Undertale
Have you ever had trouble making friends?
Maybe you wish the world was a little bit of a nicer place. Well, that’s definitely not the theme of today’s game, so strap in because Undertale is in the driving seat and it ain’t slowing down.

Alan Wake
I'm a big fan of Stephen King: I’ve always enjoyed his style of writing and the mix between the mundane and the bizarre that King managed to bring to life. I am also a big fan of Twin Peaks: arguably one of the best written tv shows of all time that both kept you guessing and on the edge of your seat the entire time. It was the type of tv show that gave you as the watcher enormous credit while it explored the unfamiliar. These two things would’ve given me enough of a cv to work at Remedy back in 2010 while developing Alan Wake, where it seemed everyone on the design team had a hard on for both King and Twin Peaks.

Thimbleweed Park
Point and click adventure games are a thing of the past for a reason. There something about the camera angles and axis differentiation that doesn’t gel with today’s modernisation of gaming - shuffling conveyorbelt-like through a level going from one piece of obvious cover to another like you’re taking part in an episode of the generation game as hosted by Marcus Fenix. Back in the day they seemed fine when we weren’t much more than confused naive children taken in by plinky plunky music and bright colours, but nowadays gaming has become more refined - or maybe accurately more linear - and the cod playing Neanderthals of today can’t piece together the batshit logic of the adventure game designer of the moment.

Vanquish
What a world we live in. We as gamers should feel so lucky to have such a variety of
different genres, fleshed out plots and characters and a bevy of mechanics to choose from,
unfortunately though if you chose to play Vanquish you got none of those things.

Tom Clancy's The Division
Over the recent years Ubisoft have been producing a lot of games that all tie into a sandbox theme - Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs and Far Cry all fall under this. For those of you that don’t know what that is: Imagine a sandbox, the type that you used to play in as a child. You could do anything in that sandbox, be anywhere as long as your imagination permitted it. A video game sandbox is much like that just without the imagination for the most part as everything is provided to you, think of it as the kitchen sink approach to game design.

Overwatch and Rainbow 6 Siege/Hero Shooters
Valve are a fantastic company. They’ve produced some fantastic games in the form of the Half-life, Left 4 Dead and Portal series, all with some brilliant game play and storytelling, almost boarding on perfection sometimes. They even brought us Steam - a platform for almost any game allowing all games out there to co-exist in harmony.

The Turing Test
Some of you may be asking “what the hell is The Turing Test?”
The Turing Test was was a test designed by Alan Turing to determine if a computer could display intelligent behaviour and essentially pass its self off as a human. The way Turing proposed to do this was to have three rooms. In two rooms were humans and in one was a computer designed to produce natural human responses to questions. One of the humans would act as an evaluator and, knowing that the rooms contained one human and one computer but not which was where, they would pose questions to both and using the responses try to judge the human-esc validity of the responses from the subjects.
Now, that’s all well and good but what about The Turing Test video game I hear you cry?

Disney's Brave
Scotland is filled with historical castles and misty moors.
There’s a lot of history that comes with Scotland, a lot of interesting places and
monuments, exports and even famous people such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Ewan
Mcgregor and J.K Rowling.

Screw talking about all of that though, instead today I’m going to talk about a
bright-eyed, colourful version of Scotland where little can go wrong, that’s right
we’re in Disney town.

Why play games?
I have been playing games for as long as I can remember, since the day my brother put a controller in my hands at the age of 3 and I was able to hold it on my own, games have been a massive part of my life. That was a long time ago now but still the love for games holds strong and I do often get asked why I play games: is it the entertainment? The bright colours? Well today I’m going to explain why I game and why I think others should too, not because I want to feel better than everyone else - though that could well be an incidental bonus - but because there are aspects of gaming that I think can provide a genuine advantage for people.

E3 2018
The gigantic, great, gaming expo has graced us with its generous
presence once again. Over the last week Los Angeles has been host to E3,
the worlds premier video game reveal event and I think enough time has
passed to digest what was dropped and take a look back over it all to
see if it was all worth a million press conferences a day and a screwed
up sleep pattern (if you live in the UK like I do), so without further
ado let’s just jump right in!

PubG and Fortnite
The battle royale format has become a huge thing over the last year or so. Having a large amount of players running around, trying to be the last one standing sounds like a great plan, so there’s no wonder it’s become as big as it is. Today, I’m going to be looking at the two biggest of the BR genre, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (or PubG for short) and Fortnite.

Inside
I can just feel writing this article that the term “inside” with all of its uses is going to become very
confusing. With that being said, let’s dive right in and take a look at what’s going on inside Inside.

Mobile games have turned out to be a very lucrative market over the years: you have your Angry Birds and your Fruit Ninjas but they’re old news, today’s kids want more fast paced, explosive gameplay.

Gone Home
Who likes walking?
Well you’re in for a treat today (I’m going to assume you said yes). Today we’re going to take a look at Gone Home, brought to us by Midnight City if you played the console version and The Fullbright Company if you had the VR version. You may have worked out from that opening sentence that Gone Home is a walking simulator. If you haven’t had much experience with walking simulators before let me explain: you walk around...

Oxenfree
Being a high school kid can be hard sometimes. You got to deal with a
lot of changes: problems and drama in those early years, most of which
doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things and you won’t
remember in a few years time. There’s usually some name calling and peer
pressure, most kids have stressful exam periods, and remember the time
you and your friends stumbled across that specter ridden mystery island?
I know I do, but it all just builds character right?
